Durba, a mining town in the Haut-Uele province, hosted the official launch of the Mark Bristow Friends Club on May 31st, 2025. This new organization, dedicated to Mark Bristow, an entrepreneur and manager of Kibali Gold Mine (operating in Watsa territory), aims to promote local initiatives and establish a direct connection with him to address community challenges.
This event, the first phase for the club established after over a decade of the mining company’s presence in the region, took place at the Kibali community stadium. Several administrative and local government authorities, along with club members from Aru territory in Ituri and Kinshasa, were present.
According to Cédric Aruna, the club’s spokesperson, the initiative embodies Mark Bristow’s vision for sustainable development. Its key objectives include education, awareness, environmental protection, sports, and leisure.
Aru Also a Target
« We are very pleased with this official launch of our activities as a structure authorized to operate across the entire Democratic Republic of Congo. This is only the first step; very soon, we will go to Aru, in Ituri province, for the same process the official installation of the club there too », stated Cédric Aruna.
The Mark Bristow Friends Club is a social association, and a strong call is being made for individuals to join and contribute to its effective functioning.
